On behalf of the National Board and National Advisory Forum of the Beta Alpha Psi Fraternity, I am pleased to present you the 2000 - 2001 annual report. This report summarizes some of the many accomplishments of the over 235 Beta Alpha Psi chapters during the year.
During 2000 - 2001, Beta Alpha Psi continued to foster its mission of providing programs that promote the transformation of financial information students into business professionals and leaders. I have been extremely impressed with the dedication of the chapter members and officers, the faculty advisors, the National Board and the National Advisory Forum. I thank each of you for your efforts.
I wish to extend my personal congratulations to each Beta Alpha Psi chapter that has achieved special distinction for its activities during the 2000 - 2001 year. KPMG will again award a scholarship to each Superior Chapter. KPMG also agreed to fund the nine best practices awards for the 2000 - 2001 year. Finally, I am pleased to recognize four chapter advisors who have been selected to receive this year's Richard E. Claire Outstanding Faculty Advisor Awards funded by Andersen, LLP: Merle Hopkins, Lowell Mooney, Simon Petravick, and James Woolley.
Congratulations also to the Business Professionals of the Year for Education, Industry and Government, and Professional Services: Dr. Jan R. Williams, Gayle L. Powelson, and Gordon E. Budke, respectively.
The beta-test of the new program of the chapter activities by 118 chapters was a huge success. Each contributed enormously to the experience. I sincerely thank each of you for your diligence, patience, and leadership, especially with the turnover at the National Office. Beta Alpha Psi is much improved for your efforts.
We continued to install new chapters. This year, we installed Rider University, Southwest Texas State University, University of Louisiana - Lafayette, St. John's University - Staten Island Campus, Widener University, Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville, and Sam Houston State University. Welcome!
In addition to the installations, the Board approved six new petitioning chapters: California State University - San Marcos, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Samford University, University of Pittsburgh, Winthrop University, and Marshall University. Welcome new members!
In February, our Executive Director, Jodi Mutnansky, resigned and joined the Hispanic Radio Broadcasting Group. Her contributions to the many activities including the programming process for the beta-test PCA were very much appreciated. We wish her well in this career move.
As a result of Jodi's departure, the Board of Directors asked Rosalynd Rambert to serve as the National Administrator. She has done a great job. I also want to thank Zoë Cheung for her commitment and dedication this year. Without her, the beta-test reporting system would not have been as successful as it was. Also, Ralph Terranova has been invaluable to the continuous operations of the national office during these transitional months.
In addition, we have hired Beth Lambert as meetings coordinator for Beta Alpha Psi. She has been working hard to ensure that the 2001 Annual Meeting in Atlanta is a success. She will be assisting all Regional Meeting hosts as well as the National Student Seminar and Graduate Case Seminar hosts in coordinating meeting venues next year.
This report also recognizes the Beta Alpha Psi Associates for their support of Beta Alpha Psi, the National Board, the National Advisory Forum, Cohn & Associates for the audit of our financial statements and preparation of our tax returns, and the AICPA for their invaluable support.
Finally, I wish to congratulate each of you for making this year of significant transition such a successful one for Beta Alpha Psi.
With Warmest Regards,
Diane D. Pattison
