A chapter’s Faculty Advisor is one of the most vital elements in the success of a Beta Alpha Psi chapter. Through countless hours of commitment, individual Faculty Advisors make substantial contributions to the professional growth and development of accounting students.

Beta Alpha Psi, through its cooperation with the Arthur Andersen LLP Foundation, is privileged to recognize outstanding Faculty Advisors who have demonstrated those rare qualities that place them at the top of all the dedicated Faculty Advisors. The Board of Directors is assisted in the selection process by nominations from the Regional Directors. The criteria includes: (1) demonstrated concern for scholastic and professional development of students, (2) served their chapters as Faculty Advisors for at least three years, (3) led their chapters to excellence including participation in national and regional programs, (4) contributed significantly to the well-being of their campus, community and the accounting profession, and (5) demonstrated scholarly capabilities and desire to pursue continued development of intellectual and professional knowledge and skills. Within a two year period after receiving the Arthur Andersen LLP/Richard E. Claire Faculty Development Award for Outstanding Faculty Advisors, recipients will write a brief report on how these funds have enabled them to further their academic and professional development.

For 1997-98, six professors have been selected Outstanding Faculty Advisors. They join 149 of their colleagues who have been recognized by the Fraternity since the award was started in 1969 in memory of Richard E. Claire by the Arthur Andersen Foundation. Honorees receive a plaque and a cash award of $5,000 as tangible recognition of their service to Beta Alpha Psi.
