Community Service Day
Sponsored by KPMG
Several years ago, in San Diego, California, the city where Community Service Day originated, Beta Alpha Psi and KPMG made a pledge to give back to the community. With your support we have continued this tradition and upheld this momentum allowing us to serve cities throughout the United States.
This year students we will be working in Red Hook Park - one of the largest and most treasured parks in New York. Its lustrous acres include natural areas rich in native plants and animals, lawns and planted gardens, as well as transition areas between the two. Volunteers will be weeding, pruning, planting, painting, spreading mulch, removing debris, and possible trail maintenance.
What to Wear:
Wear your t-shirt - which you will pick up in the morning prior to the event. Please wear comfortable clothing (that you don't mind getting dirty) in layers and closed toed athletic shoes or hiking/work boots. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR SHORTS and PLEASE DO NOT BRING VALUABLES. PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT DRESSED APPROPRIATELY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. Please bring a hat, sunglasses and sun block. Gloves and all tools will be provided. No experience needed.
So clear up your schedule and make room for the 2009 Community Service Day which will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009. Individuals will be assigned to a specific project by the Community Service Committee. If you have any medical condition(s) that prevents you from doing specific tasks please note this in your online registration. Help us to make this service day one to remember. Thank you and we are looking forward to seeing you there!
