- Professional/Service
Goal: Engage in a successful project to increase the financial literacy
of high school and/or college students in your community.
Help getting started: Find resource materials and ideas on the AICPA’s
360 Degrees of Financial Literacy website (www.aicpa.org/financialliteracy)
and Junior Achievement’s website (www.ja.org). Many financial
institutions also offer materials and ideas related to financial planning
for students – for example, see Citibank’s Student Planning
Center.
- Chapter Operations
Goal: Design and successfully implement a plan to either:
(1) increase your chapter membership among underrepresented students,
or (2) broaden the range of technical programs offered by your chapter.
Help getting started: For (1): Ask your faculty advisor
to gather data on the number of students who meet your chapter’s
eligibility requirements broken down by various categories such
as class year, major, part-time vs. full-time, or ethnicity. Compare
this data to your current membership distribution to discover areas
for potential gains. For (2): Review recent regional and annual
meeting programs for ideas on broadening the range of technical
program topics; analyze your chapter’s programs for the past
few years.
- Strategic Planning
Goal: Help improve our organization by suggesting ways Beta Alpha Psi
can improve the chapter awards program. Explain the reasons why you
believe your suggested changes would help achieve the organization’s
goals.
Help getting started: See the BAP website for the current Program of
Chapter Activities and chapter awards information. See the most recent
annual report for a listing of chapter awards.
