Changes to Best Practices at the 2006 Regional Meetings and
the 2006 Annual Meeting listed below.
With the goal of improving the Beta Alpha Psi Best Practices program
that is sponsored at the regional and annual meetings by Deloitte,
the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors approved several modifications
at its August meeting:
REGIONAL MEETINGS
(1) Abstract:
Abstracts of all best practices presentations must be submitted to
the Host chapter of the Regional Meeting
according to the timetable and procedures established by the Host chapter. These
abstract will be reviewed by a committee established by the Host chapter
and Regional Director and chapters will be notified if their proposal
(abstract) has been accepted.
Meeting the submission guidelines and the quality of the abstract
are to be considered by the judges in evaluating the Best Practices
competition.
(2) Number of categories in which a chapter
can compete:
Only one presentation per topic per chapter is permitted at the Regional
Meeting (i.e., the maximum number of presentations any chapter can
give is limited to three, one in each topic.).
(3) Number of winners:
There will be only ONE winner in each category per region. Even
when the competition is very keen there will be only one winner.
(4) Other:
There also will be an emphasis on enforcing the following existing
best practice guidelines:
- The presentation should adhere to the allocated time of 10 minutes.
- The presentation should be pre-loaded on the computer prior to
actual presentation.
- The Best Practice project presentations should, at a minimum, be
something the chapter is doing in the current year (not just
an idea, but something that is actually being done or has already been done). For 2006, there is an
exception for one of the topics which is strategic.
- The chapter is responsible for identifying the appropriate category
placement of their presentation at the time the abstract is submitted.
ANNUAL MEETING
Show case winners of best practices by having the winning chapters
make their presentations to all in attendance at the Annual Meeting.
The program for the 2006 Annual Meeting will be set up so that the
Best Practices winners give their presentation to everyone attending.
These changes will be evaluated after 2006 for their effectiveness
in raising the level the Best Practices program.
