Faulty Advisors and Chapter Presidents:

Thanks to everyone who participates in the VITA program. For the second year, the Internal Revenue Service will provide recognition to chapters that excel in several categories. Recognition will be given to the chapter:

  1. Preparing the greatest number of federal income tax returns in total,
  2. Preparing the greatest number of federal income tax returns per BAP member/pledge (based on March membership)
  3. Preparing income tax returns with the highest dollar amount of federal Earned Income Tax Credit being claimed in total,
  4. Preparing income tax returns with the highest dollar amount of federal Earned Income Tax Credit being claimed per BAP member/pledge (based on March membership)
  5. Having the largest number of volunteers contributing at least 5 hours each,
  6. Having the largest percentage of the chapter contributing at least 5 hours each (based on March membership)
  7. Providing the greatest number of volunteer hours in total.
  8. Providing the greatest number of volunteer hours per BAP member/pledge (based on March membership)

A Summary Reporting Form and supporting excel spreadsheets must be submitted to the IRS by May 6, 2005 in order for your chapter to be considered for the awards. Specific instructions are included on the form. The form is available on the BAP website at http://www.bap.org/download/VITA_Reporting_Form.pdf. Please review the requirements so the chapter can maintain the necessary records during the upcoming months.
