Dear Faculty Advisors and Chapter Officers,

Today's email covers:

2/15 Activity Report Evaluated
The Executive Office has completed the review of all reports for the fifth reporting period (January 2005 activity reported for the 2/15 deadline). Please be sure to look at your reports for this period, and review the Professional YTD Summary Report, Service YTD Summary Reports and YTD Summary table on the Chapter Main Menu for accuracy. For those chapters who have reports that were returned to the planning/reporters inbox, it is because there is additional information required. Please click into the inbox and then into each worksheet individually. The columns of the worksheet that are a lighter shade of yellow are the reports that have comments from the Executive Office that you will need to review and address. You are able to access individual activities by clicking on the event name at the top of the column. This will show the gray activity sheet that you originally used to enter in the event details. In the box directly below the Event Details section is a box that is labeled National Office and it is in this section that you will see comments from the Executive Office. Please provide the information requested in the Chapter Response box directly below the National Office box, click the continue button and repeat this for any other activities in each worksheet until all comments have been addressed. You should then resubmit the worksheet to the National Office inbox so that we can re-review the reports the following reporting period.

Please continue the reporting process for the March 15th deadline by inputting your February activity as you did the January activities.

Best Practices Topics for 2005-2006
Plan ahead! The best practices topics for the 2006 regional and annual meetings will be:

Professional/Service

Goal: Engage in a successful project to increase the financial literacy of high school and/or college students in your community.

Help getting started: Find resource materials and ideas on the AICPA’s 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy website (www.aicpa.org/financialliteracy) and Junior Achievement’s website (www.ja.org). Many financial institutions also offer materials and ideas related to financial planning for students – for example, see Citibank’s Student Planning Center.

Chapter Operations

Goal: Design and successfully implement a plan to either: (1) increase your chapter membership among underrepresented students, or (2) broaden the range of technical programs offered by your chapter.

Help getting started: For (1): Ask your faculty advisor to gather data on the number of students who meet your chapter’s eligibility requirements broken down by various categories such as class year, major, part-time vs. full-time, or ethnicity. Compare this data to your current membership distribution to discover areas for potential gains. For (2): Review recent regional and annual meeting programs for ideas on broadening the range of technical program topics; analyze your chapter’s programs for the past few years.

Strategic Planning

Goal: Help improve our organization by suggesting ways Beta Alpha Psi can improve the chapter awards program. Explain the reasons why you believe your suggested changes would help achieve the organization’s goals.

Help getting started: See the BAP website for the current Program of Chapter Activities and chapter awards information. See the most recent annual report for a listing of chapter awards.

New ΒΑΨ Logos
New Beta Alpha Psi logs (removed “fraternity”) are available to be downloaded at http://www.bap.org/chaphand/logo.htm. Please be sure to replace the Beta Alpha Psi logo on your chapter’s webpage, newsletters, letterhead, etc., and revise your chapter bylaws to take out “fraternity”. Please upload a revised copy of your chapter bylaws into the Document Library.

Outstanding Membership Receivable Reminder
We would like to remind you that all outstanding membership receivables are due upon entering pledges into the system. To determine if there is an outstanding amount for your chapter please log in and generate membership fees invoice.

Deadlines Reminder

Board Alumni Representative Nomination
The Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors elects one Alumni Member each year to serve a two-year term. You may want to consider submitting an Alumni Representative Nomination. When selecting a nominee for the Board, the nominating chapter should consider the nominee's:

  1. Leadership activities in Beta Alpha Psi and other campus activities

  3. Willingness to perform the duties of an Alumni Member as described on the nomination form

The Application should include evidence of these considerations.
The deadline for submissions is May 2, 2005. When you submit an application you also receive credit for a National/Regional Activity. The nomination form must be uploaded into the Document Library no later than May 2 in order to receive consideration and credit for a National/Regional activity.

For complete details please click on the following link http://www.bap.org/forms/alumni.htm. If you have any additional questions, please contact the Executive Office at bap@bap.org, Mindi Waldemar, Alumni Representative, at Mindi.Waldemar@ey.com, or Brandon Miller, Alumni Representative, at Brandon.Miller@ey.com
