Executive Office Announcements

Dear Faculty Advisors and Chapter Presidents,

I hope the new academic year is off to a good start for you. The annual meeting was a great experience and we are still wrapping up at the executive office.

As most of you are aware, our office is housed at the AICPA and our organizations are in a transition phase of moving to Durham, NC. Our move is scheduled for later this year, but the AICPA has been moving 350 people and positions since May and will continue to do so until July 2007. Since our operations are intertwined, BAP is often subject to circumstances that are largely out of our control, and we aren’t notified in advance that people we are working with are on the verge of having their positions end.

With that said, there will be additional communication with you this year to bridge the gap and keep you informed of what’s going on as we become aware of it.

Reporting Intranet

We are in the final phase of testing the “year-end” rollover which must be completed before you enter activities for the 2006-2007 year. I don’t have an estimated date yet for the completion, but it should be very soon.

Changes in the PCA beginning in 2006-2007

A number of changes to the PCA were announced at the annual meeting. The bullets below are a summary of the changes, so additional details will follow. To help you in planning the year, you can use this as a reference:

· There is a new NRA- the Ernst & Young Diversity Award. See the BAP Website www.bap.org  for details and deadlines.

· The BIPOY nominations will now be due on May 1 (formerly February 15)

· The TJ Burns and Graduate Case Seminars  will not be held this year and will be replaced with a new program in 2007-8.

· There is no NRA for chapters uploading the resumes to the database. Individuals will still receive credit if they upload their resume.

· NRAs for superior chapters have been reduced to 8 and for distinguished to 5.

· Activities should be reported on the Reporting Intranet by June 1 (formerly May 15).

· Activities occurring in May can be reported in either the current year of the following year. If May activities are reported in the following year, the activity should be reported with a June 1 date.

· Clarification of the “No Solicitation” policy: presentations regarding an exam are allowed, and review firms may be present at “Meet the Firms” programs. More details will follow.

Other

The BAP calendar for the year will be on our website very soon. Invoices for your chapter’s annual maintenance fee are being created, Superior chapter checks and Best Practices checks are in the mail.

Best wishes for a safe and meaningful holiday weekend.

Regards,

Dassie
