   Nancy Harke Executive Office

The Nancy Harke Executive Office is operated under the direction of the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors. Support for the office is provided by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) under the terms of an alliance with BAP . The alliance with the AICPA has allowed the Executive Office to streamline the reporting process, and to take advantage of many available resources.

Hadassah Baum (Dassie) is responsible for the operation of the Nancy C. Harke Executive Office, the coordination of board and forum meetings, finance, and internal technology for Beta Alpha Psi. She was recently awarded the Certified Association Executive credential from the American Society of Association Executives.

Prior to becoming the executive director of Beta Alpha Psi, Dassie was a technical manager for the AICPA’s New Finance Team for 8 years. She prepared the BusInd E-news twice monthly, e-mailed to over 70,000 AICPA members. She also served as the staff liaison to the Business & Industry Executive Committee and was involved in planning conferences for members in business & industry, extensive membership interaction, and research related to industry members.

Previously, Dassie was the Director of Academic Development for the Institute of Management Accountants. She was responsible for promoting careers in management accounting to students and faculty. Some of her accomplishments were developing IMA student membership, increasing scholarships, organizing the National Student Case Competition, and arranging a faculty symposium each year.

She has had a variety of experience in public accounting, industry and education.

Her educational background includes being a CPA and CMA, an MBA from New York University, and a BS in Accounting from Brooklyn College.

Yolanda R. Hamer

Yolanda R. Hamer, CMP, has held the position of Program Manager for the past 7 years at the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, in the School of Public Health, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In that position, Mrs. Hamer was responsible for managing conferences and has extensive experience in hotel contract negotiation, site selection and on-site conference management. Before joining the University, she worked for FGI, Inc., a marketing research company, as a Facility and Operations Manager for 3 facilities. Ms. Hamer managed a small administrative staff as well during her 6 year tenure with FGI, Inc.

Mrs. Hamer graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1992 with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. She attended the Management Academy for Public Health in 2004 and received her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2005. She is an active member of the NC Society for Government Meeting Professionals and serves on its board as 1st Vice President. She is a member of Association Executives of NC and was named one of the “2006 Meeting Professionals to Watch” in Convention South magazine.

Mrs. Hamer is married to Terence and they reside in Durham, NC along with her two step-children, Taylor and Terence. Mrs. Hamer enjoys vacationing in tropical islands, reading and spending time with her family.

Margaret relocated from New York to Chapel Hill, North Carolina this past summer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from City College in New York and has diverse corporate experience that includes college and IT recruitment and Office Administration for such companies as The Pepsi Bottling Group and The Nine West Group.

Margaret is involved in local community theater. She was a volunteer at the NYC Veterans Hospitals for four years and continues to volunteer her time for various groups. Margaret is married to Peter and they enjoy traveling, theater, movies and fine dining.
