The nominee for the 2011 President Elect is Dr. Mary Stone.

Dr. Mary S. Stone, CPA, Ph.D.

Mary Stone joined the University faculty in 1981 as an assistant professor in the Culverhouse School of Accountancy. She was promoted to associate professor in 1984, awarded the rank of full professor in 1990, named Hugh Culverhouse Endowed Chair of Accountancy in 2002, and appointed Director of the Culverhouse School of Accountancy in 2004. Mary is a former member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council and the Accounting Standards Executive Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Past President of the American Accounting Association, and a Florida CPA.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; BS and MS Central Florida University


The Board of Directors is proud to announce the two new Chapter Advocates (beginning in August 2010):

  • Atlantic Coast Region - Molly Brown – James Madison University - Molly Brown is an Instructor in the James Madison University School of Accounting, where she teaches cost, financial, and managerial accounting courses. She is also a graduate of JMU. Molly has served as the Beta Alpha Psi advisor of the Eta Delta chapter for the last five years, and in 2009 was the meeting chair of the Annual Meeting in Brooklyn. At JMU, Molly enjoys her work as a freshman advisor, and is currently accompanying a group of business students on a semester-long program in Antwerp, Belgium.

    Professionally, Molly works with the AICPA as an essay scorer for the CPA exam, and provides accounting services to several not-for-profit organizations. She has also been an ethics course instructor for the Virginia Society of CPAs. Personally, Molly enjoys travelling with her family and is an active member of her church.
  • Southwest Region - Treba Marsh – Stephen F. Austin State University - Treba Marsh is the Director of the Gerald W. Schlief School of Accountancy at Stephen F. Austin State University. She has been the faculty advisor of Epsilon Mu Chapter since 2002. She is currently the President of the Southwest Region of the American Accounting Association having previously served as Program Chair and Historian. Treba has served on the TSCPA Relations with Education Institutions Committee, as a trustee for Accounting Education Foundation Board, as well as on various committees of the East Texas Chapter of CPAs. In addition, she has severed as a director for the East Texas Chapter and trustee for the East Texas Education Foundation. She was recognized as a 2007 Outstanding Accounting Educator by the TSCPA. Her teaching and research has been in the field of governmental and financial accounting.
