Dallas Roundup
I hope that you will all join us for this year's Beta Alpha Psi Annual meeting which will be held in Dallas at the Fairmont Hotel, on August 15 and 16 preceded by the Leadership Program to be held August 12-14.
The Dallas programs will kick off with a two and a half day leadership program coordinated by ΒΑΨ and the YMCA of Dallas. Participants will be bused to Grady Spruce Camp where they will spend two days taking part in team building exercises, high and low challenge courses and a variety of other activities designed to help develop leadership skills. In addition to all the planned activities, participants will have the opportunity to horse back ride, swim in the beautiful lake and take part in a whole host of other recreational activities. This is a good opportunity to relax and prepare for the busy year that you have ahead of you.
The Annual meetings offers many exciting and interesting programs. We will have several plenary session speakers followed by numerous breakout sessions covering a host of topics for faculty advisors, for graduate and undergraduate students, and for officers and members. A Pizza Party will be the kick off activity, with a visit to Six Flags Over Texas at the mid point, and the Awards Banquet to end the program in style. A detailed schedule of events is provided later in this newsletter and official program and registration materials will be mailed to you in a few days time.
Dallas is a wonderful city with many opportunities for sightseeing, relaxing and enjoying some really hot weather.
Other ΒΑΨ Business
This has been a busy year for the National Council of Beta Alpha Psi and for the new National Administrator and her staff. We have made significant progress towards our goal of streamlining the reporting process, and computerizing the National Office. Things have not always gone as quickly as we would have liked but we have learnt a lot and hope that the systems now in place will help us to administer our organization in a more effective and efficient way. I want to thank all of you for your patience this past year. Delays in programing prevented us for providing you with timely feedback on your reports and we appreciate the patience you have shown. The loss of all the tax forms during the move from Sarasota to New York was something that we hope never to have to go through again. But we have filed our taxes and the IRS has called back the troops.
This year for the first time faculty advisors and National Council members will have the opportunity to vote on a President-Elect. National Board members no longer progress automatically to this position. I encourage each of you to review the materials sent our about each candidate and to talk to your faculty advisors about the selection of the ΒΑΨ President-Elect. Two Regional Directors and for the National Director of Chapter Activities are also being voted on this year. You will see that the nominees are all outstanding candidates. We will share with you the results of the elections as soon as we can.
I wish each of your a successful year end and an enjoyable and relaxing summer.
SEE Y'ALL IN DALLAS!
