On Friday, October 30, the day before Halloween, members of Beta Alpha Psi at the University of Colorado at Boulder teamed up with other business school students to entertain the local elementary school children for a day. Each club in the business school was responsible for coming up with one game for the elementary school students to play in their cafeteria. After countless hours of brainstorming (otherwise known as surfing the web), we came up with the brilliant idea that would be the hit of any elementary school gathering: pumpkin bowling! Using a plastic pumpkin, the kids would bowl over empty two-liter bottles. We considered using real pumpkins, but decided that would be a little messy. We gave the children prizes for making an attempt.

Starting at noon, each of the grades of the school, from first to sixth grade, came in to try their hand at the games we had concocted. Fifteen ΒΑΨ members and pledges showed up for the event, along with members of 13 other clubs in the business school. We all had a good time observing the kids' costumes, as well as their wildly erratic attempts at pumpkin bowling. While some children had trouble even reaching the bottles with the pumpkin, others simply picked up the pumpkin and threw it at the bottles.

This is an activity that has been provided by the business school for several years. It gives the clubs exposure in the community, and it is always greatly appreciated by the elementary school.
