Iota Rho Chapter, University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh
On October 3, 1998, the Petitioning Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh spent a cold and windy morning assisting the Alzheimer's Association with their Annual Memory Walk. This year the Alzheimer's Association expanded the annual Green Bay event with their 1st "satellite walk" taking place at Menominee Park in Oshkosh. The Alzheimer's Association turned to the Oshkosh chapter for assistance in staffing the registration tables.
Members of the chapter and their friends showed up, with calculators in hand, at 7:30 a.m. The chapter's main responsibilities were to collect and verify pledge sheets. At 9:00 a.m., the walkers began the "Memory Walk." That is when the chapter began scurrying to work. The pledge sheets had to be tallied, and the walkers and/or teams of walkers who raised the most money had to be identified, all before the walkers returned! Just as the first walker came into sight, the last prize was being decided. The chapter had such a great time that we've already committed to helping out for their 2nd Annual Satellite Walk.
