Beta Alpha Psi members only Best Practices
Each year, Beta Alpha Psi sponsors regional and national "Best Practices" competitions. For 2005, Deloitte. provided funding for both regional and national Best Practices Awards with $500, $250, and $125 awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each category at the regional meetings and $1,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each category at the annual meeting.
Beta Alpha Psi members only Beta Alpha Psi/KPMG Superior Chapter Awards
  • KPMG provides a financial award to each superior chapter. All activities for the Award must be reported and completed by June 1. There is no formal application process.
  • For 2004-5, 115 chapters received the award.
Beta Alpha Psi members only Diversity Pays Off – Ernst and Young/BAP Scholarship  
  Institute of Management Accountants Case Competition
  • $5,000 to the overall winning team and $3,000 to the three way tie for second place.
  • Required a fifteen-minute video tape presentation of case solution and typed transcript to be received by April 1.
  • Case is published in Management Accounting magazine, December issue.
  • Case and rules mailed to IMA Campus Coordinators, IMA Chapter Presidents, IMA Area Vice Presidents and Beta Alpha Psi Chapters
  • Top four finalists present their case solutions at the Beta Alpha Psi annual meeting in August, with the awards being presented at the Beta Alpha Psi annual awards ceremony.

  Accountemps/AICPA Student Scholarship

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Accountemps sponsor the Accountemps/AICPA Student Scholarship. The scholarships in the amount of $2500 each are awarded to two AICPA student affiliate members..

In addition to being an AICPA student affiliate member, the eligibility requirements are:

  • The student must be a declared accounting, finance, or information systems major with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0;
  • The student must have completed 30 semester hours, or the equivalent, of college work, including at least six (6) semester hours, or the equivalent, in accounting;
  • The student must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student, unless you are completing your final semester of study at a four-year or upper division institution.

The deadline for receipt of all application materials is April 1st. Minorities only AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students
  • Awards of up to $5,000 to outstanding minority students.
  • The scholarship program has been in existence for more than 30 years and in the last 10 years the program has awarded more than $6 million in scholarships.
  • Scholarships are awarded each August for the following academic year.
  • For the 2004-2005 academic year, scholarships in excess of $500,000 were awarded to 160 students.

  AICPA John L. Carey Scholarships
  • Available to students with a Liberal Arts undergraduate degree.
  • Seven $5,000 scholarships are awarded to students who have been accepted into, or in the process of applying to, a graduate accounting program.

  • Awards of up to $12,000 per year for full-time minority students in doctoral program with a concentration in accounting.

Women only American Woman’s Society of CPAs (AWSCPA)

The American Woman's Society of CPAs offers a national scholarship to individuals aspiring to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). The recipient of the scholarship will receive funding for a CPA review course conducted by a recognized CPA review provider. The scholarship will be paid directly to the provider and is valued at approximately $2200.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must meet the minimum education requirements to sit for the CPA exam within one year of scholarship awarding.
  • Applicant must either be an entering Senior, 5th year student, graduate student or a graduate AND eligible to take a review course within one year of scholarship awarding.
  • Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA in accounting and a 3.0 GPA overall.
  • Due date of application is March 15. Applicants will be notified of acceptance on June 30.
  • Applicants must provide a validated transcript from their college to verify grades, major and classes taken.
  • Applicant must submit an essay no longer than 1,000 words explaining why they are deserving of the scholarship.
  • Applicant must either be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States .

Needs and scholastic aptitude will be considered for the recipient(s). Awarding of the scholarship will be done at several student conferences held between August and December of each year, including but not limited to the Beta Alpha Psi Annual Conference.

  • $2,000 (two at each university) award available to top academic students with recommendations from the three state universities accounting departments.

  California Society of CPAs
  • Various scholarships ranging from $250 up to $3,000 are awarded through CalCPA's 14 chapters.  Some include multi-year endowments.  To find the   local chapter in your area call Customer Services at 1(800) 922-5272 or visit www.calcpa.org/careers/articles/chapterscholar to obtain individual chapter guidelines.
  • State scholarships are earmarked for 5th year students committed to following California's Pathway 2 or the 150-hour education requirement   for CPA licensure. Any chapter scholarship recipient my apply for a state scholarship. Scholarships vary but begin at $1,500. Applications must be postmarked no later than August 31, 2006
  • CalCPA's Doctoral Scholarship program is for individuals pursuing a Ph.D. in accounting. One scholarship will be awarded to one doctoral candidate per year to receive a maximum of up to $10,000 per year with a possible renewal of three years total. The recipient will be required to join the faculty of a four-year college or university located in California for a period of at least three years. Applications must be received no later than April 15, 2007.

  Colorado Society of CPAs
  • Gordon Scheer Scholarship of $1,250 will be awarded to an outstanding accounting major at one of the fifteen accredited colleges and universities in the state. The deadline is June 30 for the following academic year.
  • Educational Foundation Scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to accounting majors at Colorado colleges and universities with accredited accounting programs. The deadlines are June 30 for fall and November 30 for winter quarter or spring semester.
  • Two Ethnic Diversity Scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to accounting majors at Colorado colleges and universities with accredited accounting programs. Applicants with the following ethnic backgrounds are eligible to apply: African American, Hispanic, Asian American, American Indian, and Pacific Islander. The deadline is November 30.

  Greater Washington Society of CPAs
  • To qualify for an award, the university must submit two completed application packages to the GWSCPA Scholarship Fund by the application deadline.

  Society of Louisiana CPAs Scholarships
  • The Society of Louisiana CPAs offers scholarships in varying amounts every year to accounting students in Louisiana through the LCPA Education Foundation and through the LCPA chapters.
  • Up to 10 scholarships ranging from $500 to $750 and the Christopher E. "Kit" Smith Scholarship, which is approximately $5,000.

  • Six $5,000 awards have been given annually to outstanding faculty advisors of the fraternity for each of the past 25 years. The award began in 1969 and has a total of 161 recipients.
