Chris Lyon

In 2002 Chris began teaching accounting at Fort Lewis College after spending her first three years in academia at Utah State University.  Chris’s primary areas of teaching are tax, accounting information systems and managerial accounting. Prior to teaching she spent several years as a tax consultant at Deloitte in Denver and San Francisco and Pricewaterhousecoopers in Lexington, KY.

Chris obtained her BA in Accounting from Fort Lewis College and MS in Accounting from University of Colorado Boulder. She is a CPA in Colorado.

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honorary organization for accounting and finance majors. Chris serves as faculty advisor to the organization and has since 2002. In Fall 2015, Chris will transition to Chapter Advocate for the Rocky Mountain and Missouri Valley Regions. Chris also serves as the Vice President of Know Your Dough, a local nonprofit with a mission to promote financial literacy and wellness for youth and young adults.

Chris is married and has two daughters. Her husband, Doug, is a Professor of Management at Fort Lewis College and currently serves in an administrative role as Senior Corporate and Foundation Officer. Her daughters attend Fort Lewis College. Haleigh is studying accounting and Natalie is studying engineering.

In her free time, Chris enjoys cooking, watching movies, cycling, hiking and skiing with friends and family. Chris says the most rewarding part of her job is helping accounting majors transition from college students to accounting professionals by providing professional development opportunities during their time at Fort Lewis College.
