Community Service Day
Sponsored by KPMG LLP and KPMG Foundation
Thank you to all who volunteered at a literacy event or the Pack Shack FUNnel Party at the BAP Annual Meeting. WE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN CHICAGO!
- 906 volunteers
- 794 children who participated in literacy events at 7 locations:
- Ada S. McKinley Community Services – Roseland
- Erie Neighborhood House
- HelloBaby
- HOPE Excel Reaching the World Academy
- Leaning Tower YMCA
- St. Nicholas Cathedral School
- Youth Crossroads
- We donated 1,847 books
- Meeting attendees donated thousands of schools supplies. Some were stuffed into 200 backpacks with books donated by The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and Beta Alpha Psi. School supplies and stuffed backpacks were given to the Gary Comer Youth Center in Chicago.
- 2,000 Notes of Inspiration were written and given to Back 2 School Illinois to be distributed with backpacks and school supplies throughout the year.
- And… our volunteers packaged 100,000 (103,680 to be exact) meals during our Pack Shack Funnel Party event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of BAP! These meals were donated to the food pantries at DePaul University, University of Illinois, Chicago, and Loyola University Chicago – to assist with food insecurity on these college campuses, Convoy of Hope - to be delivered to rural communities in need, and the following Chicago programs:
- Erie Neighborhood House
- Sarah’s Circle
- Cornerstone Community Outreach
- Youth Crossroads
- North Side Housing and Supportive Services
- BUILD, Inc.
