Beta Alpha Psi Awards 2024 Outstanding Dean Award to Dr. Keryn Chalmers of Swinburne University of Technology

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Keryn Chalmers is the 2024 recipient of the Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Dean Award. Dr. Chalmers is currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Business, Law, and Entrepreneurship at Swinburne University of Technology and as an Honorary Professor at the College of Business and Law at RMIT University.

Dr. Chalmers' exceptional support for the Xi Sigma chapter at Swinburne University of Technology stands out. Her active involvement and substantial financial and operational support have helped the chapter excel and achieve its objectives. The selection committee was particularly impressed with her unwavering dedication to the chapter and her impact on the academic community.

With a distinguished career in academic leadership and governance, Dr. Chalmers has held several key positions within the university. As an expert in financial accounting and reporting, she has published extensively in international journals, authored two research books, and contributed to leading Australian accounting textbooks. Her research primarily focuses on accounting regulations' effects on firms' financing and investment decisions, as well as the implications of alternative contractual and reporting arrangements.

Dr. Chalmers is the immediate Past President of the Australian Business Deans Council and the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER) and has previously served as the Australian President of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.  Through her work on the International Accounting Education Standards Board and its successor the International Panel on Accountancy Education, she has played a vital role in shaping global accounting education standards.

Dr. Chalmers is a Fellow of CPA Australia, Senior Fellow of FinSIA, and a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand. Her extensive influence includes serving on advisory boards and offering expert opinion on accounting matters, establishing her as a prominent figure in both national and international accounting and education forums.
