AFWA Finance and Accounting Scholarships

Through stewardship, The Foundation promotes and advances women in accounting and finance by cultivating relationships, securing contributions, and providing scholarships for education and career development. We believe that to decrease barriers for women in the accounting and financial profession, education and access to career development resources are essential. The Foundation aims to ensure women will have the tools and resources to achieve every career success they desire.

Finance and Accounting Scholarships

  • Undergraduate ScholarshipsDownload Application – To support the costs of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting or finance degree.
  • Master’s ScholarshipsDownload Application – For those attending an accredited College or University enrolled in a master’s program, and is pursuing an accounting or finance degree.

Each year a few outstanding scholars are selected from our Undergraduate and Masters scholarship applicants to receive the prestigious Paula Zanni Award.

  • Although membership in AFWA is not required, an endorsement by a member or Chapter of AFWA may increase chances of earning a scholarship. Download Endorsement Form

AFWA Member Scholarships

  • Certification – Download Application To support the exam fees of AFWA members for any one of the following certifications: CPA, CFP, CFE, CIA, CMA, or CVA; candidates are those who have recently passed all parts of the exam.
  • Undergraduate Scholarships – Download Application To support the costs of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting or finance degree.
  • Mary Feeney Bonawitz PhD Scholarship – Download Application – To cover the cost of research for a student seeking a PhD degree in accounting.
  • Disaster Relief Dues Reimbursement – Download Application To assist dedicated AFWA Members with the expense of National and Chapter Membership Dues who have experienced personal hardship due to a Natural Disaster in their home town (ex. hurricanes, wild fires, tornadoes).
  • National Dues Reimbursement for Unemployed Members – Download Application: To assist dedicated AFWA Members with the expense of National Membership Dues who are unemployed at the time of their membership renewal.Applicants must have been a member of AFWA for a minimum of five consecutive years and actively involved with either local or national leadership

Privacy Policy: The Foundation of AFWA respects the privacy of our applicants and is serious about protecting your privacy. Data and personal information collected in the application process is considered confidential and is not shared or sold with outside, third parties. Applications are only reviewed by Foundation board members and Headquarters staff who ascribe to ethics, fraud and conflict of interest policies. Of the applicants selected for scholarship awards, The Foundation of AFWA requires a consent form to share basic recipient information via the website, social media and other publications.

AGA Academic Scholarship 

The scholarship is available to any undergraduate or graduate student who studies in disciplines such as accounting, economics, finance, information systems/technology, or public administration. Applications close annually in June. AGA - Scholarships valued at $3,000.

National Collegiate Leadership Scholarship

Apply for AGA's National Collegiate Leadership Scholarship! AGA will select up to 10 students to attend the 2025 National Leadership 2025 National Leadership Training (NLT), Feb. 19–20, in Washington, D.C. Applications close Dec. 1, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Learn more here.

 

AICPA Legacy Scholarships (funded by the AICPA Foundation)

Get to know the future leaders of the accounting industry. The AICPA Legacy Scholars program is designed to help students of different backgrounds become CPAs by assisting with the cost of their college education. The program also provides scholars with educational and professional development opportunities throughout the year.

The AICPA Legacy Scholarships application period is open from December 1 through March 15 every year. You can explore each scholarship’s requirements below. Please note you only need to apply to one of the AICPA Legacy Scholarships to be considered for all that you are eligible for. Approximately 200 applicants are selected for these scholarships yearly for nearly $1 Million in total awards.

With over 300 chapters across the US, Beta Alpha Psi serves numerous communities. Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program

The Deloitte Foundation is a US nonprofit accelerating equity, innovation, and excellence in education. It supports programs that work in parallel with Deloitte's MADE (Making Accounting Diverse and Equitable) commitment. Over the next several years, the Deloitte Foundation expects to fund $25 million in scholarships for students, including students interested in pursuing a fifth-year master’s degree in accounting, master of tax or master of accounting with a concentration in audit, advisory, or tax through the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program. In the spirit of supporting a diverse student population and to strengthen the pipeline of diverse talent entering the CPA profession, the Deloitte Foundation and participating universities will provide the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars a scholarship that covers 100% of their tuition (excluding books and living expenses) for the 2024–2025 academic year.

Available scholarships from The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)

Giving tomorrow’s internal auditors the best start today. The Internal Audit Foundation delivers academic programs, grants, and awards that encourage students to pursue internal auditing and supports educators who are teaching internal auditing courses to these future professionals. The deadline to apply to all scholarships is April 15, 2025.

Student Scholarships

  • Michael J. Barrett Doctoral Dissertation Grant To encourage internal audit studies by doctoral candidates, the Internal Audit Foundation supports an ongoing doctoral dissertation grant program. This program provides funds to selected doctoral candidates whose dissertations are focused on internal auditing.
  • Larry B. Sawyer Student Scholarship– is granted to undergraduate or graduate level students currently enrolled in, or has recently completed, internal audit curricula. 

Educator Scholarships

  • IAEP Grant Program The Internal Audit Foundation is pleased to administer the annual grant program for Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) institutions supported by contributions to the Foundation’s Academic Fund. The Academic Fund supports initiatives that focus on establishing a foundation for today’s IAEP students to become leaders in the internal audit profession tomorrow.

 

 

The Institute of Management Accountants has several scholarship opporutnities avaialble to Beta Alpha Psi students.

IMA Memorial Education Fund (MEF) Scholarship AND Stuart Cameron & Margaret McLeod Memorial Scholarship (SCMS)

IMA offers scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students based on specific criteria. Those who apply for the MEF Scholarship are automatically considered for the SCMS scholarship.

IMA Century Scholarship Award

This scholarship is available to undergraduate junior and senior students of IMA Endorsed Schools or Schools with IMA Student Chapters. The recipient will receive an award of $7,500. In addition to the monetary award, the recipient will be offered a CMA Scholarship.

CMA Scholarship Program

Students are nominated by faculty to receive this scholarship, which allows the student to prepare for and take the CMA exam at no cost to them. Faculty can nominate up to 10 students per university per academic year. Students must be currently enrolled full-time and attending regular classes to be nominated. Students who have already graduated do not qualify for the CMA Scholarship. Students cannot self-nominate.

KPMG Tax Scholarship Program

We designed this program to help the next generation of talent by providing financial support to students who identify as members of a traditionally underrepresented racial/ethnic minority group(s) within the professional services industry.

Program Overview

Scholarship details: Scholarship amounts vary and are based upon tuition cost at your university of attendance (up to $40,000)—allowing ultimate flexibility on where you can pursue your master’s degree! A future full time acceptance with KPMG is required prior to funds being disbursed.

Eligibility

    • Applicants who identify as a member of either traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups within the professional services industry (Black or African American, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, or two or more races), are strongly encouraged to apply
    • Must be pursuing a master’s degree (with a focus in Taxation preferred) during the academic calendar year beginning Summer or Fall 2023
    • GPA of 3.0 or above required
    • Must not require Visa sponsorship now or in the future
    • To be considered for this spring’s application cycle, selected scholarship recipients must ultimately receive and accept an offer to join KPMG Tax to begin fulltime work no later than Fall 2024 through our separate employment application process

Application: To be considered for the scholarship, please complete the Tax Scholarship Application, which includes a short video essay. Application will be open on a rolling basis. Candidates are considered as they apply, until all scholarship funding has been awarded. As such, candidates are encouraged to apply expeditiously—you do not have to know your final school plans for Fall 2023 to apply.

Applicants will be provided an update and/or their selection status from a member of our University Talent Acquisition Team no later than four weeks following submission of the application.
