Beta Alpha Psi Awards 2025 Outstanding Dean Award to Dr. Ed Bashaw, former Dean of the School of Business and Technology at Emporia State University

A retiring business school dean is recognized for his student-first leadership and lasting support of Beta Alpha Psi.

Beta Alpha Psi is proud to announce Dr. Ed Bashaw, former Dean of the School of Business and Technology at Emporia State University, as the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Dean Award. This annual honorrecognizes deans who go above and beyond to support their Beta Alpha Psi chapters and who exemplify the values of academic excellence, professional development, and community service.

Dr. Bashaw retired in May 2025 after nearly two decades of leadership in higher education. Known for his student-centered approach and collaborative leadership style, he served as dean at Emporia State University, Texas A&M–Texarkana, and Arkansas Tech. His impact at Emporia State has been especially meaningful, where he played a vital role in advancing the Lambda Psi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi—attending meetings, celebrating student accomplishments, and promoting the chapter’s presence on campus.

“I am extremely humbled in receiving this prestigious award from Beta Alpha Psi,” said Dr. Bashaw. “In looking back over my time as dean, I’ll most miss the relationships I formed with faculty, staff, campus colleagues, and, most importantly, students. This award is especially meaningful knowing that it came from a nomination put together by our BAP students and faculty sponsor, Dr. Danya Mi.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Bashaw has championed academic rigor and real-world readiness. A first-generation college graduate who began in industry before earning a Ph.D. in marketing, he has consistently fostered programs that connect classroom learning with practical experience. His legacy is one of accessibility, integrity, and an enduring belief in students’ potential.

The Outstanding Dean Award reflects Dr. Bashaw’s lasting contributions to both Beta Alpha Psi and the academic community.
